I recently stayed at Copper Creek and had an amazing time. I love this resort and loved it ten years ago when I stayed there before. However, I, personally, was a bit confused by all the names and what the differences are as it seemed like one big resort and all the same to me. Where am I exactly? Besides the most magical place on earth, I wanted to learn and share what the differences are.
First, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is the 2nd and the newest Disney Vacation Club resort to open at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The luxurious yet rustically styled resort is designed with all the elements of the great Pacific Northwest in mind. Perfect for family vacations and romantic escapes, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins will not disappoint guests seeking a unique Disney experience and plenty of Disney enchantment.
The highlight of the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is the 26 exceptionally private waterfront “Cascade Cabins” set in a serene, wooded setting. These rustic yet modern two-bedroom, two-bath cabins are filled with all the comforts and conveniences of home including plenty of space for families to spread out. Cabins have spacious living and dining areas, fully equipped kitchens, washer and dryer, hidden pull-down bed, stone indoor-outdoor fireplace, flat screen TVs, DVD player, WIFI, and as an added bonus, a large, screened-in back porch with a built-in hot tub. Deluxe studios, 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom Grand villas feature Pacific Northwestern décor and many of the same features of the cabins, scenic balcony/patio and an area providing extra storage space for guest belongings. The studios and villas are in the new building which appear to be part of the existing Wilderness Lodge building because of its similar design.
Second, Boulder Ridge at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, a DVC property as well, was created with the great outdoors in mind, highlighting our great national parks with plenty of old-time railroad, western and Pacific Northwest design elements. Refreshing meadows, majestic pine trees, rustic boulders and bubbling springs set the tone for this charming section.
Well-appointed villas are decorated with homey accents and rustic tones reminiscent of the style of the American West. Guests staying in 1- and 2-bedroom villas will enjoy fully equipped kitchens, spacious living area with sofa bed, dining area, comfy bedding, deluxe bathrooms, washer/dryer, flat screen TVs and complementary WIFI. Studio units have comfy bedding, sofa bed, deluxe baths, living/desk area, and a kitchenette. All villas have patios or balconies with scenic wooded views.
Third, Wilderness Lodge, is not classified as a DVC property, but you can use cash or points to stay here and is still a wonderful choice for DVC owners or rental guests alike. (Online opinion was do not use your points in this section but that is up to you). The biggest plus I find with staying in this part of the resort is the price. The rooms tend to run less per night; I tried several dates and it seemed about $100 per night! They also offer the opportunity to book a room with bunk beds. This is great for teens or friends who do not wish to share a queen bed or pull out couch together.
ALL THREE, are located just a short, peaceful water taxi ride away from the Magic Kingdom Park and a convenient complimentary bus, or a short car drive to all the fun and excitement of the Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks and the retail, dining and entertainment of Disney Springs.
All offer the same pools, dining options, and water views to see the Magic Kingdom’s fireworks at night as well as the Electric Light Parade. And all three are a fantastic option for an Orlando visit!
NOTE: If dining at Whispering Canyon Café ask for KETCHUP! You will get a huge laugh out of this request. Also, walk the whole resort if you have time. It is not a far walk and quite peaceful and beautiful. You can see water views, woods, outstanding BBQ areas fit for the whole family, as well as little black fish that crawl across the sidewalk from the creeks when it is raining. Yes, they crawled/scooted on the ground (I could not find out their name/type)!
PS: The following chat is from Disney direct regarding the differences too:
