The resort is settled on the salty shores of the Atlantic Ocean where several endangered and rare wildlife and marine creatures are found. This vast coastal area is important for sea turtle nesting. Disney Vero Beach Resort is committed to conserving the sea turtle population. By dimming lights of the resort that illuminate the shoreline, newly hatched turtles are able to head to the safety of the water instead of crawling toward land.  There are three species of endangered sea turtles found along the coastline in Vero Beach: leatherback turtles, green turtles, and loggerhead turtles.  Nesting season runs from approximately May until October. During that time resort guests may be lucky enough to see the nesting sites and maybe even see the baby turtles.  Kids ages 7 to 15 can participate in the Turtle Troop group activity, learn all about the turtle behaviors and even “adopt” their own sea turtle (by keeping up with the little turtle’s progress remotely by the wonders of the internet).

While staying at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, spend time simply watching the ocean waves, playing in the soft sand or taking a leisurely stroll along the surf.  Guests can rent a sailboat, jet ski, banana boat or kayak for more adventure in the water.
