Up Close with Rhinos at Disney’s Animal Kingdom starting on World Rhino Day, park-goers were able to reserve their spot as of September 22nd in an all-new guided backstage adventure tour. “Up Close with Rhinos” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is set to open on November 1st. The special, once a day tour will provide an hour of education and behind the scenes action with the rhinos of Kilimanjaro Safaris. This is your opportunity to learn all about the awesome white rhinos.
Rhino care team members will provide plenty of details describing how they spend their day taking care of the white rhinos. A few lucky folks in each tour might even get the opportunity to touch one of the white rhinos! The focus of this exciting tour is to show guests the various ways in which Disney has been active in preserving and protecting endangered species. Disney is also hoping to inspire guests to get more involved in nature conservancy efforts.
Rhinos are magnificent and the second largest land animal found on the Earth today. Sadly, rhinos, found mainly in grassy fields and bush country in Southeast Asia and Africa are endangered, primarily due to illegal poaching. So far, more than $2 million has been donated to the conservation effort for endangered animals worldwide by The Disney Conservation Fund.
To qualify for the tour, guests must be at least age 4 or older. Disney Vacation Club members and certain Disney Passholders will be entitled to tour discounts. The tour fee is $40, plus applicable taxes. For additional information and reservations for Up Close with Rhinos at Disney’s Animal Kingdom call 407-WDW-PLAY.
