{"id":7003,"date":"2017-01-31T16:30:38","date_gmt":"2017-01-31T21:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vacationclubloans.com\/?p=7003"},"modified":"2017-01-31T16:30:38","modified_gmt":"2017-01-31T21:30:38","slug":"will-sunny-punxsutawney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vacationclubloans.com\/website_fd31748e\/will-sunny-punxsutawney\/","title":{"rendered":"Will it be Sunny in Punxsutawney?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday, February 2<sup>nd<\/sup> is Groundhog Day and folks in Punxsutawney are already in full swing for this year\u2019s event.\u00a0 Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania has the distinction of having the largest celebration for this annual event, made famous in the 1993 film Groundhog Day.\u00a0 Historically, this Pennsylvania German tradition began in the early 1800\u2019s.\u00a0 The celebrity of all of the festivities is Punxsutawney Phil, the on-site predictor of the end of the chill of winter.\u00a0 If it is a cloudy morning when Phil comes out of his burrow, then spring will arrive early.\u00a0 If it\u2019s a sunny day, Phil is supposed to see his shadow and go right back to his little burrow, meaning winter will continue for another 6 weeks.\u00a0 There\u2019s plenty of fun to be had in this small Pennsylvania town for the week leading up to Groundhog Day, with social events, speeches, and family fun.\u00a0 By the way, there are other Groundhog Day celebrations going on in Pennsylvania: Lancaster County, Schuylkill County and Bucks, County.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some events going on in the town on February 2<sup>nd<\/sup>:<\/p>\n<p>Punxsutawney Phil\u2019s 131<sup>st<\/sup> Groundhog Day begins at 3 am and ends at 8 am at Gobbler\u2019s Knob with performances, fireworks, and of course, Phil.<\/p>\n<p>Join in the fun after Phil\u2019s prognostication for chainsaw wood carving, ice carving show, wine tasting and a walking tour.
